RootsKeeper provides tools to record, transcribe, narrate, and share family stories, photos, and letters within a private family workspace. We may improve, change, or discontinue features over time, and will give reasonable notice for material changes.

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction) to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.

You retain full ownership of every recording, photo, transcript, narrative, and letter you create or upload (“Your Content”). You grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, transcribe, and process Your Content solely to operate and improve the Service for you and the family members you invite.

We will never sell Your Content, share it outside your family workspace without your instruction, or use it to train third-party AI models.

When you invite family members to your workspace, you confirm you have the right to share Your Content with them. Family owners can manage members and remove access at any time.

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Upload content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, or infringes others' rights.
• Record or share another person's voice or likeness without their consent.
• Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service.
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service.
• Use the Service to send spam or impersonate any person.

The Service uses AI to transcribe recordings and generate written chapters. AI output can contain errors or omissions. You are responsible for reviewing and, where needed, correcting AI-generated content before relying on it or sharing it widely.

Some features require a paid subscription. Fees, billing cycles, and refund terms are shown at checkout. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the end of the current period.

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice where reasonably possible. On termination, you may export Your Content for a reasonable period before deletion.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim or (b) USD 100. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.

You agree to defend and indemnify us from any claim brought by a third party arising out of Your Content or your breach of these terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where RootsKeeper is established, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction, unless local consumer law gives you additional rights.

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
